Dr. David H. Kenton is a South Florida Native, a product of Broward County Public Schools, transformational leader, Tough Mudder runner and amateur food critic.
He has served in various teaching and leadership roles at Florida State University, Florida International University, North Carolina Central University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, His academic research was primarily focused on how foster care students experience their transition from high school to the college environment
Dr. Kenton’s numerous selections, awards, and honors include
a Horatio Alger National Scholar, a Hardee Fellowship, Education Pioneers Fellowship, South Florida Business Journal 40 under 40 honoree, Legacy South Florida 40 under 40 Leaders of Today and Tomorrow. He has also been appointed by the Florida governor to the Historic Cemeteries Program Advisory Council and was a 2-time governor-appointee to the Children’s Services Council of Broward County,
where he most recently served as the chairman of the Board.
Dr. Kenton currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Children’s Services Council (CSC) of Broward County. CSC is an independent taxing authority that funds over a hundred programs that serve children and families, advocates for policies that protect the interests of future generations and provides leadership that brings
the child-serving community together.
He holds a Doctorate degree from Florida State University and a Juris Doctor degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. He is the founder of Kenton Education, LLC and a licensed Florida Realtor. He is an active, Grand-chapter life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated with the Ft. Lauderdale Alumni Chapter. He shares his life with his high school sweetheart, Sakeena Gohagen-Kenton and their amazing 3 children.
