Kevin Johnson
Kevin Johnson, DBA is the President of Johnson Management Group, LLC and Life After Sports, LLC. Dr. Johnson has always had a passion for business and sports. He attended and graduated from Broward College with an Associates of Arts in Business Administration, from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Recreation Management, from St. Thomas University with a Master of Science in Sports Administration and a Doctor of Business Administration in Sports Administration. Currently, he is the Director of Student Success and Retention at St. Thomas University.
Dr. Johnson’s experience coupled with his education has been a great asset to the sport industry for many years. His academic experience as a professor at St. Thomas University, Johnson & Wales University, ASA College and Broward College has given him the opportunity to teach a plethora of Business Administration and Sports Management courses. Recently, he has co-authored a best-seller book called, “Stereotypes of a Black Male.” In addition, Dr. Johnson is a founder and podcaster of his show called “Life After Sports.”
Furthermore, he is a recipient of “South Florida’s Black Leaders of Today and Tomorrow” by Legacy Magazine “40 Under 40”. His involvement in the community at-large has been impactful. He is also a recipient of the “Rising Star Excellence” award from the Urban League of Broward County, Young Professionals Network. Dr. Johnson is an active member within the community areas of education and as well as a mental health advocate. He is currently serves as Vice Chair of the Broward Advisory Board and Chair of the Children’s Literacy Initiative Broward Development Committee. Dr. Johnson is the Board Chair of Healing Arts Institute of South Florida International. Lastly, he is the president of the National Society of Black Sports Professionals (BSP Miami Chapter).
In his professional career he has worked for two major sport teams in South Florida. While working for the Miami Dolphins, he
served as a special events coordinator with responsibilities over the production of game day operations as well as overseeing employees. At the Miami Heat, Dr. Johnson worked with Tony Fiorentino for the Miami Heat Camps. He also has served 10 years as a Women’s Basketball Head Coach and Assistant Coach at Broward College, Lynn University and ASA College, cumulatively.
Dr. Johnson has been operating Johnson Management Group (JMG), since its inception, the summer of 2008. JMG is a consulting company whose tagline is “Personalized For You” and JMG is on a mission to maximize their client’s opportunities by expanding their brand and emphasizing growth through management, marketing, branding, and philanthropy. Dr. Johnson and the JMG team have represented many clients over the years from various sports franchises such as the NFL, NBA, WNBA, and Olympic Athletes.
Also, Dr. Johnson has established strong corporate alliances with Auto Nation, Remy Martin, Courvoisier, J.P Morgan & Stanley, Cleveland Clinic Florida and many more. His fundraising efforts for Koa’s Pink Tie Bash raised over $200,000.00 that benefitted Cleveland Clinic Florida Research Center and AutoNation Institute at Nova Southeastern University. He has hosted fundraising events at the Seminole Hard Rock and Casino, which benefited the University of Miami.
