NAHSE Florida ChapterDr. Jayson Forbes is an educator, health systems researcher, and community leader whose work bridges higher education, healthcare, leadership development, and civic engagement. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Nova Southeastern University’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate students, mentors emerging scholars, and contributes to initiatives that strengthen research, education, and student development. As a researcher, Dr. Forbes focuses on patient safety culture, healthcare quality, and how healthcare organizations address the social determinants of health. His peer-reviewed research examining differences in patient safety culture perceptions between hospital leadership and frontline healthcare workers was cited by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in federal rulemaking. His scholarship reflects a broader commitment to understanding how healthcare systems, policies, and organizations can better serve patients and communities. Dr. Forbes is deeply engaged in community and professional leadership throughout Florida. As President of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) Florida Chapter, he leads statewide efforts focused on mentorship, leadership development, professional advancement, education, and community impact. His leadership has helped expand the chapter’s membership, partnerships, programming, and statewide reach while creating opportunities for students and emerging professionals. His service also extends nationally through the American Public Health Association, where he has held leadership roles including Chair of the Committee on Health Equity and membership on the APHA Action Board. Locally, Dr. Forbes is actively engaged with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce through its Healthcare Committee and Leadership Miami, the Chamber’s civic leadership development program, contributing to efforts that connect professionals, businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders. Across his roles, Dr. Forbes has built programs, cultivated cross-sector partnerships, mentored emerging leaders, and connected organizations around shared goals. His contributions have earned recognition including the Dean’s Excellence Award from Florida International University’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, selection to Project 12, and recognition as a 2026 Legacy Miami 40 Under 40 honoree.
