Dr. Willie F. Logan

Dr. Willie F. Logan is the President and CEO of Ten North Group (formerly OLCDC), a Miami-based affordable housing developer and community builder, which he founded in 1980. Under his leadership, Ten North Group has been at the forefront of revitalizing communities throughout South Florida by developing affordable housing, fostering economic development, and implementing neighborhood transformation initiatives.
Dr. Logan’s career began in public service as Mayor of Opa-locka, Florida, from 1980 to 1982, where he became the youngest mayor in the U.S. at the time. He then served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1982 to 2000, where he held leadership roles, including House Democratic Leader-elect in 1997 and Speaker-Designate from 1998 to 2000—the first African American to hold this position. During his legislative career, Dr. Logan chaired several key committees, including the Criminal Justice Budget Committee and the Committee on Finance and Taxation.
Beyond politics, Dr. Logan has dedicated much of his career to affordable housing and community development. As the leader of Ten North Group, he has overseen the development of numerous affordable housing projects and spearheaded economic revitalization efforts in underserved areas. His work has significantly impacted housing accessibility and community empowerment in South Florida, establishing him as a leader in urban planning and real estate.
Dr. Logan holds a Ph.D. in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University and an M.B.A. and B.S. in Accounting from the University of Miami. He is also a former adjunct faculty member at the University of Miami School of Architecture.
A respected voice in the real estate and affordable housing sectors, Dr. Logan serves on the Board of the Florida Housing Coalition and is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, including the Future of Places International Conference and the Project for Public Spaces Conference. His insights into community transformation and sustainable development have made him a thought leader in both the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Logan is also a published author, contributing the chapter "Revitalization & Transforming the Community" to the book Shifting from Objects to Places (2014). He continues to advocate for innovative approaches to housing equity and sustainable community development through both his work at Ten North Group and his contributions to academic and public forums.
