Erick Gavin is the Executive Director of Venture Miami, tasked with facilitating the growth of the technology and innovation ecosystem within the City of Miami. Venture Miami is working with funders, founders, talent, and mature companies to develop a rich ecosystem that serves Miami’s community paying particular attention to those who have been historically left out of the technology industry. Erick transitioned into technology, non-traditionally, by leaning on alternative education and Miami’s growing tech community. Erick believes that the tech industry offers greater access to economic opportunities through its lower educational barrier to entry, high wage offerings, high industry growth, and offers strong job security for the future, but without proper access to digital connectivity and training many of our communities will be left out of this industry.
