John Lorfils

Appointed as Interim Deputy City Manager in May 2024, John Lorfils also leads economic development in North Miami by attracting new business, supporting local enterprises, and creating job opportunities to drive long-term prosperity. Through strategic public-private partnerships, he has facilitated substantial collaboration between the city and private entities, supporting initiatives such as a revitalization plan for the city’s downtown corridor.
John has been instrumental in securing critical funding for North Miami, including a $1.75 million Innovative Finance and Asset Concession grant and federal technical assistance for infrastructure improvements. His recent work with the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) led to transforming the NW 7th Avenue corridor into a vibrant business district.
To further his expertise, John earned the CP3P (Certified Public-Private Partnership Professional) designation from the Association for the Improvement of American Infrastructure in March 2024, focusing on structuring, financing, and delivering P3 projects. This followed his FRA-RA (Florida Redevelopment Association Redevelopment Administrator) designation, strengthening his skills in economic redevelopment.
Since joining North Miami in 2011, John has served in roles across essential city departments, building a foundation in public administration. With a bachelor’s in business administration and an MBA from FIU, he continues his commitment to his hometown by mentoring youth and contributing to the community he has proudly called home for most of his life.
