The Broken Stereotype, LLCDr. Giancarlo Simpson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Qualified Supervisor, and a Photographer, who utilizes phototherapy and therapeutic photography in his practice. Dr. Simpson is an educator and social justice advocate with a Master's in Applied Psychology-Counseling and a Ph.D. in Couples and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. His dissertation focused on the lived experiences of Afro-Caribbean men in polyamorous relationships. Dr. Simpson's professional experience includes clinical and community development, serving as an Integrative Program Director and Clinical Director at nonprofit organizations focused on advocacy and mental health services for underprivileged communities.  Dr. Simpson served as the Integrative Program Director for the Rites of Passage Program, which provides life coaching, mentoring, and family support to young boys in Broward County, FL. He also served as an educator in AP, IB, and dual-enrollment psychology courses at Miramar High School. Aside from his private practice, he is an Assistant Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences and an affiliate in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Lynn University, where he teaches from a decolonized and liberated framework. Dr. Simpson also runs his own mental health practice, The Broken Stereotype, LLC, and photography business, Seren Studios, LLC.
